What makes it different

RuneScape's sandbox appeal comes from progression freedom rather than territory control. One character can move between dozens of combat, gathering, production and utility skills without committing to a permanent class.

Sandbox systems

ClasslessCharacters are not permanently restricted to one traditional class path.
SkillsProgression is spread across learnable skills rather than a narrow class track.
CraftingPlayers turn gathered or processed resources into useful equipment, goods or construction materials.
GatheringPlayers collect resources from the world for crafting, trade or progression.
Player EconomyPlayer gathering, production and trade help determine how goods circulate through the economy.
HousingPlayers can own, place or develop persistent homes or property.
FarmingAgriculture provides resources or goods used in production, trade or progression.
TradingPlayers can exchange goods directly or through market systems.
Wilderness PvP
Community Voting
Persistent WorldThe multiplayer world and player progress continue to exist between play sessions.
